7:00pm — 10:00pm, $10 admission at the door The ingredients of Kyle Carey’s music include the songs of the American Folk Anthology, the traditional music of Cape Breton, Ireland and Scotland, and Appalachian poetry. As a young woman, Kyle traveled to Cape Breton on a Fulbright Fellowship to study traditional Gaelic and Cape Breton fiddle. Afterwards, she spent a year on the Isle of Skye in Scotland- honing her skills in the Gaelic language and studying traditional singing techniques. To date she has released two albums- Monongah and North Star. Both critically acclaimed, and both a direct and compelling expression of her unique ‘Gaelic Americana’ sound. This is Kyle’s second visit to Richmond; her first concert was very well received. This time around, she is accompanied by two other Celtic singers, Mai Hernon and Nancy Hewitt. A local foods potluck will precede the concert at 6 pm; if you would like to participate in the potluck, bring a dish based on locally grown ingredients.
